I would love to work somewhere that employees can bounce ideas off one another. There was hardly any hands on employee collaboration which made the office seem a bit cold. I love to communicate with other employees and work as a team. The most difficult part of my job was the lack of communication between employees. Knowing that my creativity and ideas really mattered and were valuable to the magazine made me excited to work even more. It was great to know that I could pitch ideas and merchandise that could wind up in the magazine. The good housekeeping magazine full#
I was given a lot of responsibility and plenty of creative freedom. The Good Housekeeping philosophy is simple: Life should be full of pleasures, not chores. The most enjoyable part of my job at GHK was the research. I especially had a great relationship with my boss because her and I had a similar eye for interiors. My co-workers made my time at Good Housekeeping even more enjoyable. I learned the work that goes into creating a magazine and how feature stories are made. I spent my days at Good Housekeeping Magazine researching DIY projects, trending home decor items and idyllic homes that could be pitched for the magazine. I have always had a very strong interest in home decor and being able to style interiors for a magazine excited me. Being a Fashion Merchandising Major and in my senior year of college, I thought it would be a good idea to dip my feet into another field of merchandising instead of fashion.
